I am an independent scholar and licensed psychotherapist, holding graduate degrees in both philosophy and counseling psychology. The marriage of these two fields informs my work as a clinician and lecturer. As someone who “grew up” in psychotherapy as an adolescent and young adult, I have held a definitive interest in psychology for most of my life. What I wanted to discover was my nature, or in words that are not often used nowadays, the nature of the soul. This brought me from the writings and lectures rooms of psychology to those of philosophy. From this journey came my realization of the great challenge that Socrates poses to us and the founding of a new psychological theory and form of psychological treatment: The Socratic Challenge™. The goal of this challenge is to help others understand how to think well, so that they can become more independent emotionally.
As a clinician, I have been working in the field since 2010. I began in dual diagnosis treatment and over the years grew through a variety of positions: case manager, recovery companion, coach, interventionist, and clinical director. Since 2016, I have been a psychotherapist. My experience in this capacity includes: early child and parent-child relationships; parenting education; individual and group therapy with adolescents; individual and couples therapy with adults; family therapy.
In addition, I offer services in life coaching and philosophical guidance as part of my practice that focus upon teaching The Socratic Challenge™ to others.
